Notes from Havering Cyclists’ Meeting 10th July 2017

Dear Fellow Cyclists,

Please see below the notes of our Havering Cyclists’ meeting on 10th July 2017.

Planning is well advanced for the activities at the four “Cycle Hubs” during the summer. Ray will be leading four family rides and one for the over-fifties. The booking of places on the rides is under way.

We will be supporting the Ride London event on the 29th July with a “feeder ride” from Gidea Park as usual though on this occasion, LCC head office has provided a ride leader for us. Please let us know if you are able to help marshal the ride.

We are planning to hold information stand events at the Hornchurch Country Park Visitor Centre using the cargo bike on Sundays in August.

We are planning to attend this year’s Havering Town Show for both days if we can get enough volunteer support. Please let us know if you can help with the information stand for a few hours on the Sunday 27th August or on Bank holiday Monday.

Ray has ordered a batch of the new TfL cycle maps [now received], and is also hoping to obtain some of the new Let’s Ride leaflets. Terry has tried to obtain new LCC materials but the new flyer leaflets are yet to be printed.

Mark Philpotts is still working on a plan to bring cycle route continuity across the difficult junction of South Street and Eastern Road, Romford.

Ray is meeting with council officer Chris Smart to discuss a number of proposed changes to the area surrounding Romford Station as part of the coming of Crossrail.

Our next meeting is planned for Monday 14th August at JJ Moons PH in High Street Hornchurch. Just look out for the table where people, (or at least one person), are wearing red LCC or Sustrans tee shirts.

As always, see the web site at for the latest news.
