Bike stolen from outside Elm Park Post Office – Can you help please

bike bike-3 bike-2

The following is an explanation from one of our Havering Cyclists, can you help please. Let us know via contact@haveringcyclists.org if you spot the bike, know where it is, or have any other details.

I had my bike stolen on 1st Dec 2016 at 10:30pm outside Elm Park Post office. A woman challenged the thief whilst he was cutting my lock with bolt cutters. She called the police and I also arrived at the same time as them which was approximately 15 minutes too late. The CCTV wasn’t working but the woman gave a description of the thief. I’ve got a feeling that he is living locally. I have informed Police and bike shops in the area. I am looking on Gumtree as well in case it is up for sale.  I am informing as many people as possible in the community in case it gets sighted. I have attached a photo. Please do send this on to anyone who gets about in the community as they might sight it somewhere.

Thief’s description

A white male aged 35 with a medium build and a shaved head wearing a dark blue jacket.

If you have any information please call 101 and quote reference: 5420095-16.

Thanks

Andrew

Havering Cyclists Sunday Club

Last Ride for 2016 scheduled for 18th December. However, Keep a look out for next year but come along and join us for this one.

Ingrebourne Valley Visitor Centre, Hornchurch Country Park

Calling all cyclists, all ages and all abilities!

Do you fancy joining a regular group ride which is only off-road or along cycle paths?

The rides are aimed at those of us who want to practice our cycling, so the rides are lot too long (6-10 miles), are in a safe and traffic free environment, led by trained ride leaders, and are for all ages and for families.

After 4 successful rides in November we have scheduled 2 more in the run up to Christmas on the 4th and 18th. We will be meeting at the Ingrebourne Valley Visitor centre in Hornchurch Country Park and the rides will take place around the park, and possibly to Upminster, Rainham Hall, RSPB Rainham and return.

Bikes will be checked prior to each ride if needed, and we have a lot of free SkyRide Hi-Viz tops to give out to riders.

After 4 successful rides in November we are scheduling 2 more in the run up to Christmas. If you’d like to help lead the rides let us know.

Children under 16 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Cycle helmets, although not mandatory are advised to be worn.

The routes are suitable for most types of bikes, although if a special needs bike, tandem or tricycle is to be used, be aware that parts of the routes will not be suitable for them. All we ask is that bikes are:

  • in good working order
  • have fully inflated tyres
  • have 2 brakes that work or be fitted with a front brake if a fixed wheel bike
  • be an appropriate size for the rider to participate safely
