Will your next MP “Vote Bike”?

CTC, the national cycling charity, has written to all parliamentary candidates ahead of the General Election 2015 seeking their views on cycling. While many candidates have been keen to engage and show their support for cycling with over 10 per cent coming out in overwhelming support for cycling so far, the real pressure comes from constituents such as yourself. We need as many people as possible to write to their candidates explaining how important cycling is to them and their local community.

If you have not done so already, I would therefore ask you to write to your candidates using CTC’s simple online tool “Vote Bike” which will ask them to support the following five cycling policy measures:

  1. Leadership and ambition to increase cycling levels.
  2. Sustained funding commitment from the national transport budget.
  3. Cycle-friendly design standards for all new highway and traffic schemes.
  4. Improved safety for cycling through strengthening road traffic law and revisions to the Highway Code.
  5. Positive promotion of cycling including funding of cycle skills training.

CTC will publish your candidates’ responses on a new website www.VoteBike.org.uk to inform you of their views.

Please head to www.VoteBike.org.uk and write to your candidates now.

Yours sincerely,

Jon Snow
